If you have seen souls from the departed The New Apostolic Church is filled with stories of NAC members who have the "gift" of seeing into the beyond. Although NAC members have been admonished not to covet this "gift," NAC ministers have repeatedly refered to these manifestations of souls from the dead as justification for their doctrine.
Scriptural support for seeing those from the "departed" is tenuous at best. Saul had the witch of Endor call up Samuel’s soul in 1 Samuel chapter 28, but the very next day, he died as result. Saul's sin was a blatant violation of Yah's command not to call up the dead stated in Deuteronomy 18:10, 11.
Yah's commandment from the beginning has been clear. LEAVE THE DEAD ALONE. The meaning is simple. Do not call them up. Do not invite them into your house. Do not invite them into your worship services.
True to his subtle style, Satan has deceived the NAC into calling up the dead. Satan gets away with this because the people in the NAC do not hold the Bible in very high regard.
After Yahushua's death, Matthew reports that the dead came out of their graves in Matthew 27:52, 53. However it is important to note that the dead arose bodily and were seen by many.
Throughout His travels, Yahushua cast demons out of many people, so we know that demons exist.
WARNING: The "souls" that are seen by many in the NAC may in fact be demons. If you have seen a "soul from the departed" understand that it may actually be a demon tasked with deceiving you. Satan has the power to show lying signs and wonders in order to deceive. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul warns about angels who can appear to you and preach another gospel.
Other cults have similar experiences with the dead. (Click here to read about the meaning of experiences of faith). Many Mormons, for example, after being baptized for their dead ancestors, report that their ancestors come to them from the grave and thank them for being baptized on their behalf. In 1 Corinthians 15:29, Paul reports that baptism for the dead was happening in his time, but Paul did not condone this. In verse 34 of the same chapter, Paul admonishes them to "awake to righteousness and sin not."
NAC ministers are quick to point to 1 Peter 4:6 as justification for the doctrine of service for the departed but fail to point out that Yahshua did not call the dead up. Furthermore, Christ and His Apostles did not command us to minister to the dead.
If you have seen these "souls from the departed," you may under demonic attack and in mortal danger. Repent of your sins and pray for forgiveness! Send these demons away in the name of Yahushua the Messiah.
